md5sum-program - DOH!
« on: August 07, 2002, 02:23:01 PM »
Hi

U might wanna cut it out in cardboard to us poor stupid people...
On
http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/CD_burning_howto.php3#AEN31
You write how to use the md5sum.exe-program (for WindBlows)
Ok, I start with the md5sum-file:
md5sum bla-bla.md5sum
That makes this sig.:
58c7eda2d8b3cb76c7ff0d614502e5a5 *smeserver-5.5.iso.md5sum
And then the ISO file
Makes another sig
I had already closed the DOS-promt, but u know what I mean, the sigs was not identical!!! Oh-Oh... I had to download it again. Da*mit
Well... Then i thougt again... How about opening the md5sum-file ind notepad... Voila... There it was, the identical signature to the ISO-file... Phheeeew... ;+]
I didn't have to download 300 MB's again... hehe. I'm only on a ADSL 256/128 line so it to 3 hours... hehe

But, what i'm saying, write on the
http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/CD_burning_howto.php3#AEN31
page, that the md5sum-file should be viewed in a textviewer, not in the md5sum.exe-program

If I had been thinking a little bit more, then it's obvious... A small file don't have the same md5sum than a 300MB larger file... DOH hehe

Anyway, if anyone want's to make comments to me, remember to send it to my mail too, because I might not come back here again... hehe

Now i wanna sit down a fiddle with e-Smith... hehe, just have to finde a Crossed-to-straight-UTP-converter... ( I have a long way to my switch, and the only long cable I got, is a crossed one... hey, cant i just put it in the uplink-port on the switch? :-)
