Topic: can't login to roundcube v 1.0

hello
i followed the stephdl RoundCube for SME Server V1.0 installation for sme server 8
and i get en error Connection to  server failed
i tried to follow an older topic from the forum " http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=50422.15 "
but with no luck .
roundcube error log message is " Login failed for admin from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Could not connect to mydomain.com:143: Connection timed out in /opt/roundcube/program/lib/Roundcube/rcube_imap.php on line 184 "

also when using : mysql -u roundcube -p -e "show databases;"

IMAP is enable in the server i'm using sme server 8.1 up to date in server only mode and webmail (horde) is working perfectly

Is it a fresh install of roundcube or you have had another installation before ?

well probably something odd during the creation of the db, in the link you mentioned, the author said that he played with his mysql configuration.

I suggest that you completely remove the installation, the DB mysql and the DB of configuration, Then you could install again. As many contribs, smeserver-roundcube doesn't erase mysql DB when you remove it.

when i look into my firewall i can see the connection on port 143 to the server but it seems that the server is refusing it

well, nothing strange, I don't understand what is occuring since it works for the test you did for sme9 and my tests on sme8. Certainly a specific problem to your server. By the way, what is the architecture of your sme8.1

What is the history of this server
an upgrade of sme7
a fresh install directly from sme8.1
do you have many clients who are using imap currently

Are you sure that you have removed mysql DB and configuration db before to reinstall it, as I have asked in my older post.

my server was first installed as 8.0 and updated until now.
i did remove mysql like you said and run the "config delete roundcube" to remove the configuration db i also manually delete the folder from /opt/roundcube.
maybe there is leftovers or something
i don't have as many client so i can continue using horde and i will consider upgrading to sme9 in the future.

my five cents worth, i have had the same problem. brand new server with sme 9 - server gateway mode
i didn't solve the problem but found this.

When i did the first install the roundcube v 1.0 it worked fine, but after about 5 or 6 logins with diferent users it stopped working,
the log files showed the connection to the address book failed. Uninstalled and re-installed made no difference.
Re-formatted the server and reinstalled roundcube, worked same as above but eventauly failed. After about 5 times re-formatting and about a week trying to get it working i gave up and ran the Horde 5.2 upgrade and works like a charm

I guess if the number of imap connection set by default to 12 by IP is not the reason why the imap server refuses the imap connection...Maybe.

Sorry for the delay, the work has started really hard, since this two days.

I would be interested that you increase the number of imap(s) connection to your sme. Obviously Roundcube is used by other people and It should work

no it didn't fix the problem.
but now on my sme9  test server i did a restore from backup of sme 8 and now the roundcube have the same error so i'm thinking that the problem is in the configuration of the server and not the roundcube or the imap
