Topic: PPTP VPN not working ?

I use pptp vpn on sme8 since a few days, today I got problems with the VPN, I can not dial in at the moement.

The Firewall port 1723 is open...

maybe you forgot:
- to open vpn passtrought in your firewall (you need protocol GRE also)
- to search the forums?

You also need 'GRE' protocol (protocol 47) open in both directions between client and server. "Timeout sending Config-Requests" indicate you don't have a bidirectional GRE path.

There must be another Problem, I did a disaster recovery and this one week old machine is working ???

I don't think we can. You can. You will need to check the GRE path between client and server, both directions.

Having beat my head against a wall for a while with this problem, your not running this as a VM are you? On Vmware ESX perhaps? If you are, I bet you are on 5.0! Update it to the latest version of ESX and it all starts working.

Just a thought.
