Topic: SME Server Smarthost Setup

hi,

 I have been googling for days now and cannot find any clear setup on how to setup sme server as a smarthost for Exchange Server.
 My setup is like this MSExchange <-> SME Server <-> Router <-> Internet.  When I try to send out an email there is relay denied error popping out on the logs of sme and cannot even send out mails. However I can send successfully inbound mail.
 I was able to see the same issue on this forum : http://forums.contribs.org/index.php/topic,50891.0/prev_next,prev.html but there were no clear solutions as how to do this configuration on sme.
 Please advise if someone could help me on this. Thanks in advance.

There are specific instructions & db commands for this in the FAQ, link at top of forums.
Gordon Rowell did specific work to integrate Exchange "connectivity", very clever too.

hi,

 Thank you, however I am trying to use SME as smarthost meaning as my spam filter for incoming and outgoing mails. I was able to see the smarthost authentication tab on exchange but for some reason it is not sending email. The following error is committed:

  " Certificate validation failure Unable to to find alternate host.

 I am delivering all my email to exchange.  Hope someone could shed a light on this . THanks

Finally I am able to solve this issue, admin were not able to send out mail so i decided to create another account that will authenticate on sme and now it is working.
