For those of you who do not read the mailing lists you should know there has been some interesting discussions on how else we can raise funds for Koozali SME.
In the last year we raised around USD 11,000 in donations with costs of around USD 8,000
However, a large chunk of that income was from ONE donation. Without it we would have lost a lot of money last year. We have built up a small buffer over the last two years which helped us when we moved servers. But we still live very hand to mouth, and have nothing much for investment in the distro.
I can assure you it isn't much fun watching the bank accounts every month and wondering if we will receive enough to pay the bills.Quite simply we need to try and stabilise and raise the income stream a little more to ensure the future of the distribution. Donations are OK, but they just aren't enough, or regular enough, at the minute.
This is NOT to say that we make Koozali SME a commercial distribution, but that we should be more commercially orientated or aware and look at alternative income streams beside donations.
So please, have a look here, and join in the chats. It is the future of YOUR distribution that you are helping to decide.
