mail between my local server and outdoors.
« on: April 02, 2015, 02:26:26 PM »
Hi,

Can you help me

I have a domain name with FILNET .
I have two SME servers.
1 server and gateway ( SME9 )
1 server only (no gateway) (LAN)
(SME7)
I set up an A and MX for my local server with Filnet .

What is the best way for emails can go between my local server and the outside.

thank you

Anne

Why do you have two servers, why are they on (very) different SME versions, why is the one so old (SME 7 is long since EOL'd), and which is the "local server"?  Are both SME servers on the same LAN?

For a long time , I have a sme server. (2000/2001)
In 2008, I tested the freepbx contrib  with sme server that I had put in  the local network .
Since then, it was like that .
I put a sme 9 with everything on it.
The recovery disk broke .
I installed new sme 9 with a small disc that I had.
This disc can not have asterisk .
So I handed the old sme server with Asterisk in the local network.

I need that the server ( sme 7) communicates with the outside through the sme server 9 .

Since I put sme 9 it no longer passes .

Meanwhile that I buy a larger drive ,  I really need help to find a solution.

thanks
Anne

In Configure this server screen on sme7 box (login as admin), nominate the gateway IP of sme 9 server, so the sme 7 can have Internet access.

On the sme 9 server gateway box, you need to setup port forwarding for all services & appropriate ports that are running on the sme 7 server.

On sme 9 for email, you can delegate all mail functions to another mail server ie in your case the sme 7 server.
Please read the FAQ (link at top of forums) & various of the Howtos for all the commands you need to do this.

If you use the delegate mail server command, then you do not need to port forward the mail server ports.
Please search before asking, an answer may already exist.
