Installing via USB
« on: June 11, 2015, 04:00:15 AM »
Is it a requirement to use the release candidate? I tried many times this evening using the current iso and couldn't get it to ignore my sda1. Also is there a command line install option to use vesa? No in the wiki, by an option on install

AFAIR I installed more than one SME9 via usb using unetbooting on windows and copying iso file onto USB stick..
the only issue I had (and IIRC there's a bug related) is that grub is installed on the USB key itself and so you need to boot with the USB key in, installa grub on your hd and reboot again.

in any case, you aren't giving us any detail about your issue, so it's hard to help you

That looks like what my issue was. The wiki instructions Install From USB don't mention this.

Will do, but I can't find the bug listed maybe I'm searching wrong or perhaps I need to create one.

Current testing has shown both current betas for SME8 and 9 are problamatic using a USB, CD or DVD install only

TerryF, are you saying that ONLY betas of SME8 and SME 9 are problematic, and are problematic across the following install methods : USB install ; CDS install & DVD    :???:
Am i missing something / misreading something here ?

I installed the latest SME9 from DVD onto a test machine with no issues.

No, only CD and DVD install work, install using USB is problematic.

I should have been more specific, I tried using the current 9 iso not the beta as shown.
