Dear friends, i have a wireless netgear access point. It connected to the sme server via switch in the network. The server resides in the network of 192.168.200.1. But notebooks connected to access point got ip address 192.168.10.1. How can i release 192.168.200.0/24 ip range from the dhcp server to these notebooks?

Your wireless access point also needs to have its address in the 192.168.200.X range. You should also disable one dhcp server, either in SME server or in the wireless access point.

I cannot disable in sme server. Just disabling dhcp on access router is it ok? Once i did it, the AP releasing no to client. ??? Client assigned 254.169.x.x

Maybe restart your WAP

You should check the admin configuration of your WAP, & turn off all functionality except the wireless function.
Dumb it right down.

Enter a fixed IP in the WAP device that is out of the DHCP range of the SME server, or otherwise configure specific fixed IPs for each device in the Hostnames panel of SME server that match specific mac addresses on each piece of connected equipment. Thes "forced allocation IPs" will be issued out by the SME server DHCP server.

What you are doing works for me, so just a matter of getting your settings correct/appropriate.

Your router most likely has two groups of ethernet ports: one isolated and labelled "WAN" (or something similar) which is actually connected on your local network, and several others (usually 4) which are the LAN side of the router. Just connect this router to your local network using one of the LAN port, leaving the WAN port unused. Then, disable DHCP server of the wireless router: this way, it'll just act as a bridge (wifi clients will be on the same subnet as the wired ones, and will get their IP settings from the DHCP server of SME)

Dear daniel, thanks to ur advice i did the wan port unused. Its now working as i planned. But i cannot disable dhcp. It says about a io conflict. Anyway the mission completed. Thanks

You really have to disable one of the two DHCP servers (most likely the one on your wireless router). Having two DHCP servers on the same subnet will cause issues (even if the one of the SME Server is faster, and seems to anwser most of the time, you may have cases where clients will get their IP parameters from the router itself)

Yes daniel. You said the truth. After few munites all client near the AP lost the internet.  Then i disabled the dhcp in wireless access point. thanks for the additional infor u gave to me.

That advice was given earier but you did not heed it, why not !
People here are providing good advice but you don't listen until forced to react !

No no I listened to ur advise but i was attempting to disable dhcp in wrong way. That's why took time to read the manual of AP. while i read the manual of Ap, my network gone down. Now it's ok with the good knowledge of disabling dhcp on AP. THANKS.
