Hi

Having a few issues with sme9admin. Something seems to have gone wrong during the install and the sme9admind is not starting at boot. Nothing I do will make it start. Have uininstalled it and reinstalled it to no avail.

Dont believe it to be a bug, have installed it a few times on various test boxes without problems.

Logs shows

readConf() OK !
DBI connect('sme9admin','sme9admin',...) failed: Access denied for user 'sme9admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/bin/sme9admind line 292
MYSQL error Access denied for user 'sme9admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
cat: /var/run/eth1.pid: No such file or directory
Can't call method "prepare" on an undefined value at /usr/bin/sme9admind line 883.
the current pid for pppd is 

and I am right out of ideas where to go next.

did you restore you server with a backup and after you have installed sme9admin...it looks like the user sme9admin cannot connect perhaps because the mysql password is not good

Yes, restored it from V8 to V9 then installed SME9 Admin after that.

OK, so is it an option to uninstall sme9admin, login to mysql and drop the sme9admin database and start again or are those possible mis-matched passwords going to become an issue ??

normally the name of the database is different of the sme8 version...strange

Hi again Stephen,

mysql show only showed an  sme9admin db. That is what I would expect as sme8admin was never installed.

I did remove sme9admin and the relevant database then reinstalled. New database was created and all works fine now.

I did not do the work, I only gave the instructions and I have to assume they were followed. I was told they were however I am suspicious that they were not !!

Anyhow, all is now good and thanks for your replies.

Even if you restored from sme8 you have no database at all....it makes me think about a bug that ????
