ISP FTTN BYO modem settings

Optus
Dynamic IP (IPoE)
No login required
First connection must be done with Optus supplied modem
After that, can switch to BYO modem but MUST copy Optus Modem VDSL MAC Address to your modem MAC – Most modems support this feature. (Certainly the el-cheapo TP-Link TD-W9970

Also why when I do static on server if I give it the ip 192.168.1.1 sub as 255.255.0.0
it will not then allow me to give the gateway ip as 192.168.1.1 sub as 255.255.0.0
The sequence is server domain name xxx.xxx name of server xxx ip for machine (sme) 192.168.1.234 sub net for local machines 255.255.0.0 server type server/gateway how connect dedicated server gateway then you have decided to connect with static ip please select a ip for external connection (this is not you external gate way..192.168.1.2 next sub net for you connection 255.255.0.0
then it requires gateway ip which is vigor130 192.168.1.1 and sub net 255.255.0.0 then you are required to have ip start for lan..192.168.1.3 and end ip 192.168.1.233 please reboot for settings to be set
With you just saying only one ip is needed is incorrect and confusing it will NOT except only 192.168.1.1 in both areas

Your sme server LAN IP would be 192.168.1.2
&
your modem LAN IP would be 192.168.1.1 (for modem vigor130)
& your DHCP dynamic range in sme server would be 192.168.1.3 TO 192.168.1.233

The gateway IP (in your modem) would be an external IP range (not in the 192.168.x.x range)

9: Selected static ip given for external eth0 192.168.1.2 subnet of 255.0.0.0

That would be a very unusual subnet mask for a 192.168.x.y address. 255.255.255.0 is more usual.

Janet...When you go to setup for sme server there a addresses its asks for
1:DHCP range 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.233
2:Server ip 192.168.1.234
3:Ip for wan/external ip....?
4:Gateway ip guessing you would use the same as modem 192.168.1.1

What I do not understand is the ip that I give the eth0 wan/external as you have stated I have exactly what you have in the quote.
Are you telling me to put in the sme server the same ip for wan/external as the modem (vigor130)?

Cheers

Server and Gateway - Dedicated

External Interface Configuration - Use static IP (even if have dynamic IP)

Select Static IP address - This IP will be in the same subnet as the external          ethernet interface on the DSL router
e.g  router external interface 192.168.1.1
       SME external interface  192.168.1.2

Gateway IP address - This is the external ethernet IP of the DSL router.

This should get you up and running.

Janet...By doing the instructions there this will NOT allow the ip of the gateway 192.168.0.1.

What I want is this:

sme ip 192.168.0.234  subnet 255.255.255.0
ip for external Wan ?????   subnet ????
gateway ip 192.168.0.1
served ip 192.168.0.2   to   192.168.0.233

This below is setting in my router:

LAN IPv4 Address:   192.168.0.1
WAN IPv4 Address:   106.71.127.235
Default Gateway:   106.71.0.1
Primary DNS Server:   211.29.132.12
Secondary DNS Server:198.142.0.51
