Affa, too many backups for hard disk space
« on: November 05, 2016, 06:10:57 PM »
I see a years backups is too much for my remote Affa storage server unless I increase size of storage drives. As this is possibly excessive I was thinking to limit to 3 to 6 months. I assume I simply need to reduce months storage to that number in in the configuration file from 12 to perhaps 3, and years from 1 to 0 ?

However to remove the excess presently in the computer is their any suggestion short of deleting all the backup and letting AFFA start again?

The issue being that as AFFA is an incremental backup how does it get started with a new backup when the 3 months is up?

Thanks
Ken

Hola,
1. To reduce numbers of backups, modify yearlyKeep and monthlyKeep in file .conf ;
2. To clean (erase) the old backups :
Code: [Select]
affa --cleanup JOBBye
