dungog-rsync
« on: April 20, 2016, 06:56:47 PM »
I am looking to upgrade to SME 9.X and wondering if dungog-rsync will work with the new software. I have been using it for about 10 years and it performs flawlessly. Or should I be looking at something else?
TIA

AFAIK dungog packages are no longer supported by the original author (or anybody for that matter).
I believe some code was given to contribs.org when dungog stopped support, but most of the commercial dungog packages with proprietary code are no longer available or supported.

There is an easy way to find out if dungog-rsync works on sme9, & that is to try it out.
If it does not work, then you can lodge a bug report & see if one of the devs is interested to support that package.

You can install Virtual Box (etc) & then install sme9 & test that package using a VM setup, prior to performing any upgrade.

Some packages are in contribs but not sure which.

Perfectly possible we can add more. Stephen kindly gave us what he could find of his code and  permission to do as we please.

Please try it on v9 and open a bug report (ceck if there are any others first) against contribs and we can have a look at an import.

I am currently working on trying to build a newer version (same code, just updated for v8 & v9)

As I didn't have the srpm I have had to try and rebuild the spec file, which is always interesting.....

Will keep you posted.

Darn.... I must still be suffering from holiday fever   8-) :pint:

https://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9475
https://bugs.contribs.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9476

There is a version for v8 and for v9 - essentially identical.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE test and report back on the bugs. It is vitally important if you want to see this in contribs.

Thanks for the input.
I will give it a try, but it will be a couple of weeks before I get to it.
I will be sure to let you know how things work out.

Please do - it needs testing before it can be released and as I did the code I can't do a verification on it.... !
