Question on Sorting mail with Procmail contrib
« on: May 17, 2016, 05:26:48 PM »
Hello,

Can anyone tell me how I can create a rule that will sort to a sub-folder of the Inbox?
I have a current rule set to go to "Test Folder" but it seems to only go to the root outside of the Inbox.
I know it is likely in the "Folder or email address:" path but I don't know how to set it as I currently have Test Folder in that line but maybe it should be Inbox\Test Folder just not sure.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
......

It should be INBOX.foldername.

Thank you for your reply DanB35.
I tried to create a test rule to filter by "subject" and the rule "TEST" to destination folder "INBOX.test."
I see that the folder was created but when I send a test email to myself with the subject "TEST" it doesn't get delivered into that folder or any other folder when I look within webmail for example.
What am I missing?
Thanks

You can look in the procmail.log in your home directory, although I must admit I've never found it particularily useful.

OR look in the .procmailrc file, which contains the procmail rules that are generated.

All in ~<username> (/home/e-smith/files/users/<username>)

You could copy the latter here if you wanted us to see what had been generated.
