Disk Redundancy - manual or Disable iLO vDisk 268MB
« on: June 03, 2016, 12:25:29 AM »
Hi

I've a remote server with 2 internal HDD. Ask for a local technician replace one 500GB HDD with a new 2TB HDD to upgrade (sync, replace 2nd, sync, extend).
But the ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 has an iLO interface and it generated a 268MB disk (/dev/sdc) and this is avoiding auto sync using "Manage disk redundancy option" on menu.

So I think I have two options: find a way to disable this iLO feature or fix mirror by hand.

I could do it by hand following wiki... but I'd like to ask for a expert (one of you): Should I try to disable iLO virtual HDD before ?

Regards

Jáder

Hi Jáder,

Following the wiki and manually sincing should work just fine. You might loose time trying to figure how to disable this sdc 268 mb. Raid will reefuse to add it anyway to an array of 2TB as you can only add exact same size or bigger drive.

Do you know if you have lvm configured or raid 1 only? Depending on this there might be small different step to do it all.

I´ve followed wiki procedure and it´s working... never went back to see if I can disable that small 256MB RO disk.
Maybe next time I get one HP with iLO... rightn now that one is production... so if it´s working... IT´S WORKING!
