Well, the problem might be that there's no such host as www.nicommnet.com.  There's a whois record for that domain, but there don't appear to be any DNS entries.

what do you mean no DNS entries? you mean the "name-servers"? the primary name-server is "guido.nicommnet.com" at 64.146.66.5. I need more info. I know that it is a DNS issue, has to be, but somewhere I'm missing something

Yes.  What you're missing is an entry with your DNS server for www.nicommnet.com.  If that server doesn't know who www.nicommnet.com is, or isn't set up to serve DNS to the public (which appears to be the case; see below), then nobody else will be able to resolve www.nicommnet.com.  If this is above your head, you probably shouldn't be operating any kind of public-facing server, and certainly not a public DNS server.

[dan@e-smith etc]$ nslookup GUIDO.NICOMMNET.COM
Server:  localhost
Address:  127.0.0.1

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:    GUIDO.NICOMMNET.COM
Address:  64.146.66.5

[dan@e-smith etc]$ nslookup www.nicommnet.com
Server:  localhost
Address:  127.0.0.1

*** localhost can't find www.nicommnet.com: Non-existent host/domain
[dan@e-smith etc]$ nslookup www.nicommnet.com GUIDO.NICOMMNET.COM

[dan@e-smith etc]$ nslookup www.nicommnet.com 64.146.66.5
*** Can't find server name for address 64.146.66.5: No response from server
*** Default servers are not available

I wasn't trying to be either rude or condescending; I was responding to what seemed to be a lack of understanding.  Administering a public DNS server is a non-trivial undertaking.  When your response to my (paraphrased) "there's no DNS record for your host" is (paraphrased) "what do you mean by that?", it seems that you're missing a basic understanding here.

Now, as it happens, the problem goes deeper--neither your primary nor your secondary DNS server is responding to DNS queries (in fact, the secondary doesn't even respond to pings).  Based on their IP addresses, I presume that you're responsible for both of them.  Based on the fact that the IP address for guido seems to be the same one that you're using for www, it looks like you're trying to use your SME 5.5 box as a public DNS server, which it isn't designed to do (and I'm not aware of any HOWTO for adding that feature to v5.5).

Your best bet is to have somebody else host DNS for you--zoneedit.com will do it for free for up to 5 domains, and has an easy-to-use web interface for updating their records (and it happens to be what I use).  If you're set on running your own public DNS server, try searching here for public dns; you may find some helpful information for 5.5.
