PPTP removed on Mac
« on: September 02, 2016, 09:19:26 PM »
Hi all,

I noticed that Apple removed support for PPTP VPN on iOS and macOS.

We used to get PPTP enable for some users and access simple to the server from the outside without any much setup on the server side.

Now, IPSEC is also available in SME to run as a replacement? Anyone on how to set this up?

Thanks,
Seb.

Good; it's long since been considered insecure.  RequestedDeletion has pointed you to the articles in the Wiki about VPNs; my experience is that the OpenVPN contrib works well using Tunnelblick on my Mac.

PPTP - and about time too.

If you need a hand with ipsec please ask and I will do what I can to help. My stuff needs testing and probably developing further (e.g. I haven't added certificates yet) so if you have ideas etc then let me know and I will take a look.

Another alternative is OpenVPN - again check the wiki

Your ducks are clearly better informed than mine...

Good news.....

Not for one of my users (he'll have t pay me to make an alternative work) , however good for overall security.  How long before Microsoft withdraw it I wonder?  :?

LOL :-)

I just had a quick looked based on the original comment.

His own stupid fault for not heeding sound advice and changing a long time ago. It is long overdue. Apple actually doing something sensible.... (I have little praise for that bunch, except where it is due)

Is that hell I can hear freezing over ? Or was that a drift of pigs I saw flying past my window ?

Thought not :-)
