Something is wiping out my groups...can anyone please help?

Hi,

Ok...this time I used Abe Loveless's perl script to add my users....I have about 560 users.  I added them in bunches of 300 or less to avoid over doing it.  I also add the following to my smb.conf via the templates and so forth (the right way)

[home_shares]
comment = home_directories
path = /home
valid users = admin root your_user_name
admin users = admin root your_username
write list = admin root your_user_name
public = no
writable = yes

[whole_linux_server]
comment = whole_linux_box
path = /
valid users = admin root your_user_name
admin users = admin root your_username
write list = admin root your_user_name
public = no
writable = yes

Then I created 2 groups....homeroom and sped....I had hardly anyone set up as members as I hadn't gotten that far.  Then...I set my work group and make my box a PDC and so forth...I set up my netlogon share with a perfect profile and name it "default user"....last...I add my users.  After I started adding machines (I did reboot in between.  It's when I go to access the ibays that I created earlier that I notice I can't get into them....I checked /etc/group....and found many of groups missing again.  What the h*ll is going on?  I have to have this back online by Monday p.m.   Please help me.

David

Ok,

Here's where I'm at.  I followed everything step be step....I added my users in batches of about 100 using Abe Loveless's (Fillipo Carletti) perl script.  Everything was going fine until I got to about 500 users....then suddenly my groups dwindled from 449 lines to 29 lines.  Each user get added to the groups file.  Is this what's causing it?  How can I work around this?  I can't keep reloading this thing.
