Setting up a second WAN/DMZ - Is there documentation?
« on: May 10, 2017, 08:53:51 PM »
Hi Folks,

We're replacing an old dedicated firewall with a new install of 9.2.  Is there any documentation on setting up a secondary WAN/DMZ on the system?  I've installed 3 NICS and the normal LAN and WAN settings are functioning.  I'm just not sure of how to configure the second WAN/DMZ on the system.

Thanks,
Tim

SME doesn't support the third nic

in any case, take a look here: https://wiki.contribs.org/CoovaChilli

if you really need a multiwan firewall, I suggest you to use something like pFsense, Opnsense and so on.. if your HW permit it, install proxmox (or esxi), and work with virtual machines.. one for multiwan firewall, another for SME (in server only mode)
the only drawback of this solution is that if you need to backup on an external USB disk you might be in trouble with usb passthrough

Thanks for the input.  I'm actually moving from a pfSense system that had become far too complex to manage for my small 14 person office.

Too bad that we can't add DMZ support.

Maybe time for a feature request since the team doesn't already have too much on their plates.

Again, thanks for checking in,
Tim

It's plans like this that had me move to a pfSense installation.

I'm doing external USB backup sucessfully on two proxmox / smeserver (s).
