USB Support

Hi All,

I have a Pentium III Celeron 633 with the PS2 Keyboard connector faulty.  I installed a Microsoft USB keyboard to overcome this problem.  Went into BIOS and enabled USB support.

Rebooted the machine and started to load E-Smith 5.5.  The load proceeded OK until the boot process runs USB support processes where the keyboard light turns off but the process says loaded OK.  The keyboard itself stops working totally.

After 6 attempts at rebooting the machine to see what happens, I decided this was not an intermittent issue.

Went back to BIOS and turned off IRQ enabled for USB.

Rebooted and the E-Smith boot process says USB support now FAILED but the USB Keyboard now works.

Is there a problem with the software or do I need to do something else.

Regards

Ron

We only see USB support hinted at in the Printer setup

Perhaps only limited USB utilisation is provided today?

Hi Ron!

I use my USB Logitech keyboard for the SME server 5.5 and it works great. I use it with a KVM switch so SME has to re-recognize the keyboard everytime I switch to the server. I just enabled everything that said USB legacy support in BIOS :)
Try some more tweaking in the BIOS, and I´m sure you will get it working.

Good Luck, Rikard
