has anyone successfully configured e-smith for adsl connections? i've had a look at four or five different software solutions which add adsl connectivity to redhat, but i'm unsure if they'll integrate with e-smith properly.

comments?

Glenn,
I am running e-smith as my web server & home network gateway.
My internet connection is ADSL using a Flowpoint 2200 xDSL router.

System is working great.
Do you have any specific questions?

In my area, our DSL provider (Bell Sympatico) uses the PPPoE protocol and have provided files to include within Linux. I haven't had too much success at incorporating these and was wondering if anyone else has been able to get e-smith server to work under this situation as a server & gateway? Also, anyone know if PPPoE will be supported in some future release? Thanks!

Take a look at this website.

They have a RedHat 6 RPM for PPPoE

PPPoE is a big problem with Linux, If your provider has provided files could you please check the license on the software and post them somewhere if the license allows it.

It's not for a lack of enabling code that PPPoE won't work with e-smith -- check out www.carricksolutions.com under linux pppoe. The problem i'm finding is in integrating the pppoe patches with the e-smith configuration (template modification, init modification, dhcp, etc.). But it can be done. This very site (www.e-smith.org) is running on adsl-pppoe, I believe. The answers are out there; I for one would be most grateful for any assistance.

I'd suggest that you post some information about what templates
and init scripts need modifying to the developers mailing
list - devinfo@e-smith.net. There might be someone there already
working on this problem, or someone who can help you to devise
your own solution.
