question about migrating from SME9 to SME10
« on: August 12, 2021, 12:53:44 AM »
I am close to being ready to upgrade our web server to SME10, having almost finished updating the PHP code to work with PHP 7.4 and I've removed custom templates from the old SME9 server that I found would cause problems under SME10. I have SME10 installed on our backup server with the contributions that we use so I can backup the old server and then restore to the backup server. However it just occurred to me to wonder about the PHP settings that are now set per ibay in SME10.

Our web site resides in the Primary ibay and I was planning to set the needed PHP settings on the backup server prior to the transfer. The question is, will restoring the SME9 backup to the SME10 server erase all existing settings for the Primary ibay on the SME10 server or will it only overwrite those settings that previously existed on the SME9 server? If it will erase all settings then it seems to me that I will need to
Code: [Select]
db accounts setprop Primary on the SME9 server with the needed PHP settings before I create the backup to transfer.

Hopefully everything will go smoothly as our previous SME upgrades (SME7 to SME8 and SME8 to SME9) were done with the DAR2 contribution which isn't (yet) available in SME10 so I haven't used the SME built in backup for an upgrade before.
