IMAP directories gone

I've been using e-smith for about two weeks now, no problems. Didn't make many changes to it.

Then, yesterday,  I attempted to change two things:

1) Set up a single user account so it can log in via ssh (by chsh to bash for that user)

2) Set up user html directories, using the rpm from http://forums.contribs.org/index.php?topic=14606.msg55815#msg55815

Both of these changes appeared to work fine. However, after rebooting the server, all of the IMAP mail folders are gone. All of the mail has disappeared, and cannot be accessed. E-mail is no longer being delivered to the user directories, instead disapearing into some bottomless void? Also, brand new users do not appear to have the appropriate mail directories.

After looking at the above rpm, there doesn't appear to be anything in it that should cause this problem. In fact, it honestly makes no sense to me. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas what has happened, and whether the old e-mail can be retrieved, I would be very grateful.
