At a guess you are on v9, though you haven't mentioned it.

This has been known for some while if you had kept abreast of news.

So your solution is to upgrade.

That's it.

See No. 3. in my sig.

Maybe, just maybe, you might want to drop the attitude.

I can't upgrade at the moment and there are reasons for that.

Thanks for nothing..

Maybe, just maybe, you might want to drop the attitude.

I have just stated some facts.

You could have done some reading, seen what was happening, and answered your question yourself. There are tons of posts on all this. We have said repeatedly over a long period that v9 is EOL and please don't ask questions about it unless they are on upgrading.

If you had got involved and helped like some have, you would have been aware of this.

You have had a year to do it so I am not sure what you expect?

A small group of us worked really hard over a long period to make sure that you didn't get in this position.

In any event, this was not our choice. ClamAV decided to stop supporting the software, so please direct your ire at them.

There is nothing we can do. We have done all we can. The only person to blame is yourself.

For what's its worth, for the last 2 or 3 days, I have been getting the same errors.  And, I am running a fully-updated v10 server.

I ran this command:
[root@provue-server ~]# yum list clamav
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, post-transaction-actions, priorities, smeserver
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile
 * base: ewr.edge.kernel.org
 * smecontribs: mirror.canada.pialasse.com
 * smeupdates: mirror.canada.pialasse.com
 * updates: mirror.umd.edu
Installed Packages
clamav.x86_64                     0.103.3-8.el7                      @smeupdates
[root@provue-server ~]#

and it seems the correct version of clamav is installed.  Not sure what is going on.  Maybe something in a recent update?

No note of your log, but unrelated.

You have v10 & 0.103.x

Original problem is v9 +this:

Local version: 0.100.2 Recommended version: 0.103.3

Please either open a separate thread or a bug and post your log.

I wanted to share my solution for this problem:

on another server, install cvdupdate https://github.com/Cisco-Talos/cvdupdate
you will need python 3.6 and apache
you will need to configure the database directory as your (home) directory served by apache
you will need to run "cvd update" in a cron job

on the sme9 server, add the following lines to freshclam.conf:

Code: [Select]
PrivateMirror YourNewServer
and freshclam will update from there.

IF, like me, you have reused some other apache and want to serve these files from a different port (8282), use the following in freshclam.conf:

Code: [Select]
DatabaseMirror yournewserver:8282
PrivateMirror yournewserver:8282
HTTPProxyServer yournewserver
HTTPProxyPort 8282

I remind you that once you have tested the correct configuration, you will need to create a new fragment to save those settings, for example

/etc/e-smith/templates-custom/etc/freshclam.conf/PrivateMirror

and then
Code: [Select]
expand-template /etc/freshclam.conf

folks, yes I know we have to update, and yes I have moved services to a sme10 instance, but some service I still have on sme9 and I haven't really had the possibility to move them.
