Login with terminal emulator fails on 10.1. How do I Fix this.

RE: Login  with terminal emulator fails on 10.1. How do I Fix this.
When I login with my favorite Terminal Emulator (AlphaCom Version 9.5) the login fails. Obviously, some added security has been added. Is there a way to set the login up like it was on SME 9.2. AlphaCom worked perfect on SME 9.2.

The error message is ==>>  At login i get the following error
No matching server MAC algo found from hmac-sha-512-etm@openssh.com,hmac-sha2-256-etm@openssh.com,umac-128-etm@openssh.com,hmac-sha2,hmac-sha2-256,umac-128@openssh.com
I then press “OK”
Then i get “Error 16 when processing KEXINT
I then press ‘OK”
I then get “Disconnected”

When I login with my other Terminal Emulator (KDE - Konsole) it works except for some minor issues. For this login I use ssh username@IP Address  and then enter a password.

I really need to use the AlphaComm program as the minor issues are major to me.

Thank you for any help
Oldtony

configure your terminal (or update it if hose are not available)  to use one of those :

Ciphers
Code: [Select]
chacha20-poly1305@openssh.com,aes256-gcm@openssh.com,aes128-gcm@openssh.com,aes256-ctr,aes192-ctr,aes128-ctr
and for the MACs
Code: [Select]
hmac-sha2-512-etm@openssh.com,hmac-sha2-256-etm@openssh.com,umac-128-etm@openssh.com,hmac-sha2-512,hmac-sha2-256,umac-128@openssh.com
other are considered insecure particularly sha1 !!!

please avoid using password to ssh to a linux server, this is mot a good practice as brute force password is way easier than attacking a pair of rsa keys with passphrase.  And you will gain in confort to login.

what are those minor issues that are huge for you ? Probably something that could be set easily ….

the one available in your distro.
I use Fedora with Gnome GUI and the default terminal that comes with it.

If you use Mac OS just use the default Terminal.
Windows has a lot of fan for putty which is free, but be carefull to use only the original, there are a lot of hacked version around with viruses.

All the magic is configuring what offers you the gui in term of display, and configuring ssh using ~/.ssh/config and adding the rsa you need in .ssh too.

and what about your minor issues ?

RE: Login  with terminal emulator fails on 10.1. How do I Fix this.
When I login with my favorite Terminal Emulator (AlphaCom Version 9.5) the login fails.

If this is meant to be a paid for, up to date application then you should also contact their support and ask why it is not supporting modern security protocols. There may be settings in it to change this but I don't know the application.

It will be much more secure to leave the security settings as they are and use a secure application to connect (and as JP said, use SSH keys, not passwords, and disable that option in the server manager).

...
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
