So for all you excited people out there...... Latest progress.
Big step forward this week.
We finally managed to get all the new packages built on the new Koji build system.
There were lots of issues but Jean Philippe managed to wrestle them to the ground and get a submission from each
Once we had done that, Terry the Test grabbed a Rocky v8 base, added the repos, and installed the packages.
Voila! The first working Koozali SME v11 !!!!!! Well. Working......ish.
OK, it's a LONG way from an installable ISO so it isn't for the faint hearted and a hugely manual job, but the fundamentals are there to start some testing.
Next steps are tidying up a mountain of lose ends, broken bits etc before we can beat it into an ISO.
There are several new toys that we are looking at. Amongst other bits:
New server-manager
Moving to a new DNS system - the current is very old and unsupported
Adding Letsencrypt certificates to the server-manager
Adding some DNF support
Stuff we'd like to change but can't as it will take a lot of effort - pencilled for Koozali SME v12:
Replacing the mail system with postfix
New firewall
IPv6 support (this is a huge task as it touches so many pieces - notes here and please have a look
https://wiki.koozali.org/IPv6 and talk to us on Rocket for more information on testing)
Anyway, there is progress. How much we will make before Cent 7 is EOL I do not know. We are very few. We all have lives and families, and some of us even have jobs....
Please don't complain if things aren't built when you want them. This is a community. It is the responsibility of
everyone in it, not just a few.
So come and do your bit to help. We have had lots ask to come and talk on Rocket over a few years, but very few do anything.
We'll get it built faster with your help.
