Synology Active Backup For Business
« on: March 23, 2024, 12:23:34 AM »
Hi all,

Has anyone managed to get Synology Active Backup for Business to backup their SME Server? I use it to back up a lot of Windows Servers at work and have found it to be great. I'm curious as it if I could get it working at home and install the client into SME.

Does it work with other Linuxes?

Ah yes. Some forn of installer for an agent.

You'd probably need a config service and system unit override to run the service/agent under SME.

I'd get a Virual machine and have play.

Probably base it around the qemu agent.

can it handle connecting before and after the backup to execute task ie signal-event pre-backup and post-backup? or alternativelly can it be started by the host to backup and not the backup server?

if not i would not even care about going further as you would get a non usefull backup missing functional bits

Thanks for your replies. Synology Active Backup for Business when backing up Linux does have the option to run Pre and Post Scripts.
It's ok. If there is no other demand for it, then I'm not asking anyone to spend time on it. I'll have a bit of play with a VM when I get some spare time.
