Hi and Happy New Year to all.

A quick update on progress.

General Koozali SME Server dev

JP has finished almost all the core stuff. I think the DNS upgrade is coming and there are a lot of tweaks and bugs to work through, but quite a few of us have had a stable and reliable basic box running for a while. They are in no way really 'production ready' - there are a lot of hacks and tweaks required, but they are good test benches.

If you want to help then as normal, please contact me and you can join us on Rocket.Chat where all the hard work happens. Anyone with a spare VM can do it.

ISOs

After a mountain of work from Trevor and others we have started building ISOs, though they are a bit flaky right now.

We were hoping we may even get an Alpha ISO out before long. But.... there is always a but :-(

We have for a long time used the openfusion repo in Australia hosted by the ever helpful Gavin Carr.

He has built many perl packages into RPMs that are used in contribs, and we have integrated some into the core.

We had asked if he could add a few more, and some updates to existing ones.

However, he has just replied:

Quote
Unfortunately I don't have a working RHEL build box any more, as I've moved away from Redhat after the CentOS debacle.
So I'm afraid my existing repo won't be getting any updates unless things change in the future.

(He's not the only one..... including us)

That means we are having to pull the RPMs into our own repos and build them all. They then all need testing. That is taking up a lot of time and energy, and probably set us back weeks, but it has to be done.

Again, please HELP!!

Even just running a test box will help. Just message me for a Rocket account. We can chat you through things there easily in real time!

Rocket.Chat

Once again Rocket have kindly updated our licence for free. A big thank you to them.

Note we have 90 register users on our Rocket instance. But active ones number less than 10. That is very sad to see.

If you already a user there please get involved. We don't bite!!

If you aren't a user then message me, and come and talk to us. Again. We don't bite!! We even have a jokes channel :-)

We all just ordinary people with a bad sense of humour and a penchant for a bit of IT!!
