Blue or red pill?
« on: April 15, 2026, 12:00:47 PM »
Hi there!
Well, it is time for the «one and only» question in the universe ..
Stay on SME Ver.10, which is insecure and EOL or jump ship and transfer to SME11 beta.
I only use SME in my homelab, so itˋs no big deal really, but it is the only router/firewall I have used since many many moons ago.
Never had any bad problems, besides many hours burning the midnight oil.
For me it is just a hobby, so no harm done here.

All that besides;
What are the recommendations?

Stay on 10 and «feel a bit unsafe» or level up to 11 and take some chances on chrashes or instability issues.
Again, I’m just having a good time exploring computers, no business, just for the fun of it..
With regards,
J

v11 is inching towards a RC but we keep tripping over small gotchas. We were hoping around Easter but..... :hammer:

Most of us doing any work on it have been using it for some while. I have it running here at home and my UK office, and am about to swap a couple of my main boxes over in the next week or two.

As long as you keep abreast of bugs etc then it is perfectly solid. It REALLY helps us for more people to use it and report if they find issues.

So I'd say if it is not majorly important take a backup and go for it. If you have a test box to run a trial then even better.

By all means ask me for a Rocket account and come and join in the fun. All help is really appreciated. Remember it isn't just our responsibility to get it finished. It is EVERY user in the community!

...
1. Read the Manual
2. Read the Wiki
3. Don't ask for support on Unsupported versions of software
4. I have a job, wife, and kids and do this in my spare time. If you want something fixed, please help.
