I dont know why you need 2 nics for this. I need to know how I can tell which ip

is bound to which card. The docs are rather poor. I dont need the email I just want
to use the proxy and ip masq. It was easier to use plain redhat. I thought this
was supposed to be easy. I cant even get to the web interface, all i get is not
authorized. Ive printed and read the manual. Way too much coverage for
dhcp. I am going back to Redhat and easy fw. No option to partion the drives
myself with this distro.

Hello Yancey,

We're sorry you're having trouble using our product. To address your first question, you don't need 2 nics for our software. It works just fine with 1 nic in server-only mode or dial-on-demand mode. Which mode are you trying to use? And are you working with version 3.0 of our software? (Version 2.0 did not support the server-only mode.)

If you can't get to the web interface, my guess is that you have configured it for server and gateway mode, but are trying to use it in server only mode. In that case, the e-smith software thinks your requests for the web-based manager are coming from outside the local network, and it is denying you access for security reasons.

Im tring to get the proxy to work with just one nic. I dont need samba,
appletalk and some other stuff thats running. I tried to edit the
squid.conf file manually but it goes back to the original setting after reboot.
Yup Im useing ver 3. But I know Im not useing this for what its designed for.
The only feature I wanted was squid to cache the web page for a dedicated
56k line for a client. The squid site docs are dated 28 feb 98. They dont cover
2.2.4. This is a great product. I just have to break the rules. An option for this
setup would be a nice feature.
