RAV & Bugbear

Is RAV supposed to stop Bugbear? Just because at about 1pm Aussie EST we got it. I dont know how though. I checked the RAV logs and it updated itself at about 12:30pm so it would've been updated, checked the global logs and all the email that came in with attachments were scanned and fine so just wondering if Bugbear was in RAV's capabilities to stop, then I know I have to look elsewhere, meanwhile I now have to find a box to put all the paper from the printers in :-)

Thanks

Hello Cyrus,

As far what i know about RAV it shoud sstop the bugbear virus. in my server it does it. but is there any change that user has been load mail from some other mailbox outside the network, maybe from personal mailbox "thank's to Outlook it is possible" then the virus has been exploied in network computer and rest is history.....

you should use somekind of antivirus scanner in userscomputers too to prevent thiss kind of happening again.....

Using Norton Antivirus 2001 or 2002 you can disable Auto Scan etc, therefore the scanner will not affect performance BUT you can still leave email scanning enabled thus catching all the attachment viruses.

I was getting around 100 Bugbear hits on my RAV a day, it's slowed down a bit now.  No problems here, but we are using only IMP 3.1 for email :), and our desktop virus software can't be disabled or uninstalled(officescan).  Outlook and Outlook express are gone, makes my job a little easier.
