Hi, I insalled a SME 5.5 server + gateway with a analog modem and a nic.
It has to be my gateway / firewall for my personal network of win.boxes
The internetconection test was ok. but when i try to connect one of the other pc trough the SME with internet the modem wil not call out.

Please point me in the right direction..

Thanx for reacting ...
The SME is a server and gateway only. there is a win4.0 server on the network witch is PDC. Al the win-boxen (win98 workstations) have the ip-addres from the SME as gateway adress. I installed a external modem and can make internet acces wiht it. (this was tested whike instaling SME)

The purpose of this SME server is router/gateway/firewall so all my winboxen can have a save internetacces.

have you set all the win boxes to the SME's ip for the gateway? Also have you set a forward lookup zone in the DNS on the PDC?

What setting have you got the connection on, long/continuous/short? It shouldnt matter, but dial-on-demand never worked for me, but it didnt really affect me because I have a permanent dial-up account so I just set it to neven hang up............sorry :-(
