Topic: mirror drives only half the space

Upon reloading SME 5.5 we mirrored two 15 gig IDE maxtor drives.  Fresh installs, seperate cables - master on each.  Followed all the proper rules of drive setup, and the end result is 6.9 gig of drive storage space.
No understanding of why this has happened.  Tried various setups, etc. Same results.  Thoughts?   We are all in wonder...

also there is an issue with some BIOS whereby the HD size is not reported to Linux correctly.

I thought there was a "howto" on it somewhere, but I can't find it (perhaps someone else knows?).

I think setting the BIOS NOT to detect the HDs automatically might have been the answer.

We tried every concieveable setup option on these two drives with no success.  I loaded that software so many times, I burnt a hole in the CD.   Alone they format out to the 15 gig drives they are.  Together they format out to 7 gig.  Must be a Maxtor 15 gig drive thing.  The IBM 20's I did worked perfectly.  I don't know.  Thanks for the reply.

I actually have some maxtor 40gigs which also come through as 20gig, but I haven't tried hard to sort it out...
