dsl modem/gateway and bridging??
« on: December 31, 2002, 02:52:56 AM »
HI,

I hope someone here can help me. I am trying to setup an e-smith box behind a Actiontec Wireless Ready DSL Gateway (modem) and it doesn't seem to want to let work. Here is the current setup:

IP address is (made up): xx.xx.xx.78
subnet mask I don't know just yet, but looks like 255.255.255.248.
I have been given xxx.xxx.xxx.73-77 as valid ip's. 72 is network and 79 is broadcast. Right now they have a linksys that does the internet sharing via a Wan link and a crossover for the uplink to the hub. I would like to eliminate the Linksys.

So, can I just do transparent bridgind and remove the IP from the DSL gateway router? If so, does e-smith support PPPoA? this is what is specified in the control panel of the thing.

Thanks,

anton

By the way, this is with Qwest.
