This may sound like a dumb question. but I have been using e-smith for a while now and absolutely love it.  As I try to convince others to use it, am I correct assuming that it is more secure than other distributions because if someone does happen to compromise a config file, the templates would replace the corrupted config file once  they are expanded again?  I am assuming this is the case, but just want to make sure before I give out wrong information.  Thanks!

No, that's not really what makes SME more secure than many other distributions, although I'm sure it helps a bit.  Security is a function of the specific configuration (firewall, etc.) and the software that's used (qmail instead of sendmail, for example).
