Can't open LDAP Addressbook in Evolution
« on: January 07, 2003, 05:43:08 AM »
Hi.  I have an SME Server 5.5 and two client PCs on my network.  The clients have Redhat 8.0 installed, and the email client is Ximian Evolution.  I can't seem to add my SME server as an LDAP addressbook source.

These are the settings I've used:
BASIC TAB:
Account Name: b0sberaad
Server Name: www.b0sberaad.org
Authenticate with server using Distinguished Name
Distinguished Name: cn=chrisis,dc=b0sberaad,dc=org

ADVANCED TAB:
Port: 389
Search Base: dc=b0sberaad,dc=org
Search Scope: One

When I attempted to access the contact list tho, I get the following error:

"We were unable to open this addressbook.  This means you have either entered an incorrect URI, or the LDAP server is down."

Now, I've fiddled about with all the variations I can think of for the above settings (incl not authenticating, leaving lines blank, selecting each search scope option, etc), and all with one of two results: either the above error, or no error message, but an emtpy address book (it's blank, even though I have two users created on my SME server).

I've searched these forums, and so far can't find anything to help me.

Oh.  chrisis is a valid user on my smeserver, b0sberaad.org is internal (and www.b0sberaad.org gives me my starter web page in a browser).

Any suggestions?

TIA,
Chris

I don't know why it's not working. If you want to try connecting as root, the password can be found in slapd.conf.
