Can I use Redhat RPM's?
« on: May 19, 2000, 11:32:25 AM »
Hi,

This is a bit of a Linux newbie question...

If I download and try to install an RPM for Redhat, say, PHP or MySQL, will anything "bad" happen?  I guess what I really mean is, are all the files in the same place, and are the file versions the same as Redhat 5 (? whatever E-smith was based on...)?

I realize that there are templates in E-smith... but other than that, are there any other things to look out for?

Thanks in advance,

James

E-smith 3.x is based on RedHat 6.0. I have installed a couple of rpms, although not PHP or mysql, and it worked OK.
