Ok i have check the forum and vmware site and i can not get my Windows machine to ser the port 80 or the vmware network connections.... i see afew of you have gotten it to work and you express or go into so detail on how it was done ... it was installed in server only mode... and the ver of vm is 3.2 ... i have tried NAT and host only connections for the network and it not connection the E-smith server.

Glenn,

We use VMWare all the time and it is great.  We normally use "Bridged" networking and assign a local IP to the interface.

If you want to run as server/gateway, simply add another NIC, also bridged, and assign another NAT range to the internal interface.

This works with either real or NAT ip space on either side.

I am using VMWare to test SME 5.12, 5.5, and 5.6Beta7. All but 5.6B7 worked fine. To get 5.6B7 to work I had to enable webmail and restart the server. I may have been able to restart httpd but I figured that would have been done when I enabled webmail.
