Login Imposible......
« on: May 20, 2000, 01:49:24 AM »
I just installed e-Smith 3.1, Installation Ok , no problems .. blah blah blah, Internet connection Test Ok, NI, modem, everything just fine....

BUT

When I try to reach the e-smith server using my Windows Explorer in order to use the web base manager (www.xxxxxx.xxx/e-smith-manager/ ....

It ask me for a login and a password but I have not define one yet in the server... Can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong?

I also tried this FAQ issue but NO success...

"Why am I getting "access denied" when I try to access the web-based manager?
This error means that the e-smith server and gateway thinks the web-based manager is being accessed from outside the local network (which it is denying for security reasons). If you are running with a single ethernet card, make sure the machine is configured for server-only mode. If running with two ethernet cards, the e-smith server automatically assigned one of the cards to the internal network and the other to the external Internet connection. Initially you have to guess which is which, so if you get this error message, try switching the ethernet cables. "

I'm running a Netware file Network and W98, W95, Linux, an e-smith as a Internet server....

Any Help????

To login to the web-based manager use:
USER: admin
PASS: default
(change this password after logging in)

To login at the console:
(press alt+F3 for e-smith 3.x to get a login prompt)
USER: root
PASS: default

What ever password you set using the web-based manager will be the new password for root at the console.

Try using the LAN IP address of the server, i.e.

http://x.x.x.x/e-smith-manager/

You'll find that will work reliably. When e-smith 4.0 comes out, the address will be:

http://www.e-smith.you.domain.name/e-smith.manager/

I hope this helps..
