Topic: 5.6 DNS upable to resolve hostnames

Hi,

i have installed the unsupportet version. The system ran faultless till one wanted to go from the network on a page.
Came the error page "server Failure DNS server can´t resolve the hostname for www ... " .
".
What can one do against this?

It seems to be a problem with the DNS in 5.6. I had simmilar a experience. The DNS won't resolve hosts pointing to itself. I read in another thread that usinng a forwarder solves the problem for internet hosts. In my nettwork I have www poiting to a "remot" host (web-hotell) and resolving host www works. I also uses a external DNS as forwarder so the internet accass works. It seems that this is a problem not only in my installation so any advice would be fine.

Some more info. I made some testing and it appers that if You use a masterdns (forwarder) the SME 5.6 stopps resolving internal hosts pointing to it self. This is a new problem that I have not seen in older versions like e-smith 4.1.2 so I think it´s a bug and have posted it to bugs@e-smith.com but if anyone knows a fix for this feel free to post it
