Hello!
I try to install Hylafax on my SME-Server Version 5.5 Update2.
I have got an ISDN-Connection using a BT Speedway ISDN PCI Card,
which was recognized by the SME-Server as AVM Fritz! PCI Card.
I read some installation-instruction and now I am getting mixed up.
I think, I need to install CAPI4LINUX(driver) and CAPI4Hylafax.
(on some of the instructions they say I also need ISDN4Linux and on others I don't)
Anyway:
I found the CAPI4Hylafax on
www.avm.de-Site,
but to the CAPI4Linux they say:
"CAPI 2.0 driver for the controller and pppd plug-in contain precompiled
modules for SuSE-Linux. To allow manually integration in other distributions
or kernel versions (makefiles), the sourcecode is included as well."
That's where it gets complicated for me.
Because even if they tell me how to make it, I do not know which version I should take(which of the SuSE-Version is comparable to which RedHat-Version?
Which leads me to another question:
In the FAQ-site on e-smith.org they say the kernel in the current version is Red Hat 2.2.4-18 kernel and the SME Server V5 is based on the Red Hat Linux version 7.3.
But when I issu the folllowing command at the command prompt
/bin/uname -r
it says : 2.2.19-7.0.8
What does it mean?)
I also found a CAPI4Linux for RedHat Version 7.2.
Can I use that?
And one last question:
In these instructions, I read, they also say, that I have to prepare the kernel and recompe it.As I am a newbie to Linux and SME, I am a bit afraid of doing it. Do I have consider something?
I am sorry, if these are stupid questions. or if they do not belong to this mailinglist.
but you'd make me very happy, if you could help me!
Thanks in advance, Claudia.
