update 1,2 3 on 5.5
« on: February 01, 2003, 10:53:02 PM »
I found that the update2 did not display any activity on the consel as the 1st and 3rd updates did. on a 5.5
I used:
  rpm -Uvh --replacepkgs *.rpm
  /sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
  /sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
update1 and update3 showed each package as it was installed and update2 did not. Do I need to remove update3 before trying to reinstall update2?
Is there a way to tell which updates are installed?

Dear Dave
Perhaps there was something wrong with your update 2 download. It worked OK for me. If you really want to you could try downloading update2 again.

Anyway, my understanding is that each newer update totally supercedes and includes/relaces the earlier update. Based on this you only need apply update3 to a standard v5.5 instal, ie everything (or better) in upd1 is in upd2, everything in upd2 is in upd3.

rpm -qa
will show a list of all packages installed, browse thru it to look for the updated packages.

I don't recall what ours showed, but I do know that occasionally the "SME-Update" RPMs weren't included with the updates, so the system didn't properly show that it had been updated.
