Topic: problems receiving emails with large attachments

Hello everybody,

I wonder if you could help me or at least point me in the right direction.
I have problems with an SME-Server(Version 5.5Update2) receiving mails with
large(>1MB) attachments.
They do arrive several hours after they were sent.

I know, that there is a size-limit for emails, but as far as I understood it,
it is only for webmail, and anyway, the mails arrive after all.

I had a look at some logfiles (maillog, qmail/current, )
but I didn't find anything, that helped me.
(I didn't know, what to look for.)

Maybe someone could tell me, where and what to look for.
or what to do?

Claudia,

Check the mail headers of the received email and correlate the times of when the sender sent the email to you and when the users ISP's mail server forwarded it on to you.

Chances are that it is the users ISP that is queing the mail. Mail with large attachments may get a low priority.

Is it just the one sender or have you tried receiving email with large attachments from another isp.

for me it looks like it might be a problem with my ISP(demon).

It seems Demon is very slow in forwarding the mail.

I have a little another bug.
When mail client from localnet connected to qmail/mta on port 25 and requests to send mail with attachment about 300K and more - it all hangs, and doung nothing, maybe 1 hour...
SME6b3 using, localconcurrency = 10, remoteconcurrency = 20, databytes = 0.

Who did know what can it be?
