Exchange webmail and SME 5.6
« on: February 28, 2003, 03:31:17 PM »
Hi!

I have a SME 5.6 configured as a server and gateway which is running my default website!
Then I have an Exchange 2000 server running all mails without any problems. But how do I configure SME 5.6 to let my users enter their Exchange webmailboxes via an ordinary internt connection???
I would think I have to specify a destinct port for that but how do I redirect that port to the Exchange server???

I have looked at the Portforwarding RPM but I don“t know quit how to set it up!

Hope someone can help me.

Install the port forwarding RPM, then in Server Manager just specify the external port you want forwarded, and the internal IP:port you want it forwarded to.

http://www.chrouch.com/e-smith/rpm-howto.html is a guide on installing an RPM, if you don't know how. If you're not used to that, you may want to install the Update System RPM as well. That will let you install RPMs from the Server Manager.

I have now installed the Portforwarding rpm on my Esmith and entered port 8181 in the ext and the IP on the Exchange server in Dest IP and the port 81 which the Exchange webservice is running. But nothing happens outside the local network. Inside everything works fine!

Any idea on how I can direct uses to my Exchange server through the Esmith???

Thanx,
Michael.
