I think I am getting some very flakey DNS issues with SME 5.1.2's mail system.
I have yet to upgrade to 5.6, which will probably happen in June.
Problem: when the e-smith developers list (and other systems) tries to deliver e-mail to me, I get sporadic results. I currently have my server set to not accept SMTP connections from UNKNOWN@UNKNOWN systems unless specifically excepted in my configuration template fragment.
For some reason the e-smith developers list randomly connects to my system identifying itself as UNKNOWN@mail.e-smith.com (216.191.234.126) as "nssg.mitel.com", but sometimes when it connects it shows up in my logs as UNKNOWN@UNKNOWN (216.191.234.126) as "nssg.mitel.com".
Now here is the weird part. I have placed the 216.191.234.126 as an exception to the UNKNOWN@UNKNOWN rule, along with many other IP addresses that connect as UNKNOWN@UNKNOWN. I even have so many IPs that I had to start another row in my configuration template because the first row exceeded the maximum entries per row. So this connection (and several others) should never be forbidden or denied. So why is it? How can I fix this?
Thanks for any assistance,
Tom Carroll
