Topic: ftp to sunsite.unc.edu

Hi All,

I have tried searching for some help on this, but so far I am still having troubles. I am trying to ftp to the Sunsite Linux Archives at sunsite.unc.edu, but having no success whatsoever. I don't think this is an e-smith problem, just a me being lame problem. I am using CuteFTP 5.0 XP, and have set it to (supposedly) connect through the firewall. This seems to be where I am having the troubles.

So my question, can any one humour a lame-o here and and help me setup CuteFTP to connect to an external ftp site step by step? I just cant do it. I can get it to connect to the e-smith ftp server, but should I even be doing this, as I actually want to connect to an external ftp server? Oh Dear, I am in a mess! Please help!

Matt,

Have not used CuteFTP in years, but, with my other FTP software, you don't tell it anything, ie. no firewall, no proxy, nothing. As long as TCP/IP is working correctly, your FTP program should be able to get out to the net.
