login problem from windows 2000 client

Hi - I have started having problems logging into my e-smith 5.5 server from my Windows Professional 2000 PC.

I have roving profiles set up. The windows message is that it can't find my profile on the server. The message in the event log looks like this.

"Failed to authenticate with \E-SMITH, a Windows NT or Windows 2000 domain controller for domain HOME. "

I have been fooling around with the hard drives on the PC but nothing has been changed on the server. I can browse the server (after it authenticates me using the admin log in) and everything looks OK there.

Looking at the MS Knowledgebase this type of error is normally rectified by using NETDOM  to rebuild the trust relationship.

Since we are talking SAMBA here, I haven't a clue what to do.

Any thoughts O wise ones?

Have you tried disjoining your w/s from the domain and then joining again ?

This worked, and thank you. It took me a while to work out how to remove the PC from the domain, I had to rename it and change it to a ficticious workgroup to get there but after several reboots all was well.

I have another PC that refuses to let me log into the domain though according to Windows it has joined the domain. I will get more information and post again.
