Permit root logon
« on: May 22, 2003, 09:17:35 AM »
Good Day folks,

I have a 5.5 SME box that I am currently locking down security

I am trying to figure out in the templates to deny (permit root logon) root login

Any help would be gladly appreciated,

TIA

why the hell do you want to permit the administrator (root) to logon into your system?
in my eyes it does not make sense...

cheers

I am not trying to permit it. By default SME allows you to log in as root via ssh.  I am trying to edit the template to change permit root logon to a no. Just like any other Redhat system

this can be set in the server-manager in the remote access menu.
Allow administrative command line access over secure shell set to "No"
By default it is NOT allowed. In fact you can disable ssh altogether (default as well) from the same menu.
