Hi folks,
I'm new to SME 5.6 first install, still getting my head around things, can anyone offer me a little help or point me in the right direction.
I would like to run a web cam from one of my workstations by default it runs on port 80 which is open but the firewall seems to be blocking it from the outside world. Do i need to do something to the iptables, if so how do i do it?
Regards Steve

Hi,

You could use portforwarding found on http://contribs.org.

Look under Darrell May

you don't need any port forwarding. I have just a web page for the cam in an Ibay. I have the cam program (on my worstation) ftp it from within my network to the Ibay (on the SME Server) every so often. then access it http://domainname.com/cam-page. I created a user just for the uploading of the JPG images.

Hi again,

Iv'e created an ibay & new user for my webcam, but the firewall still won't let the stream through. I can ftp images to that ibay with my ftp program, but when i point my web cam software to do the same the firewall won't allow it to write to that ibay. Any suggestions what i need to do? .When i check my help files in easywebcam it suggests that i have to inform the firewall to allow easywebcam.exe to have access, looking for help on doing this.

Steve I never tried streaming, but does you webcam software allow for a username and password? I would think it should. maybe map a drive to the share. then tell the software to upload to that drive letter S:\html or what ever the path is.

These are only sugestions. they might not work, but you can give them a try. Let me know if it works. I have a sony handicam I would like to setup for streaming. I just haven't had the time. So for now I just use my logitech webcam.
