But there was a weird scenario that i do not know the cause, when I open the webmail in my house for mail checking then when i get back to office and check the mail using MS Outlook it downloads again the 1 up to the last messages in my sme server even if it was laready downloaded in the past days and keep getting doubled emails. what should be the cause of this, is this a bugs or i need a little configuration to do?

please help....

Hi Mike,
I asked the same question a couple of months ago. I was actually advised to use IMAP instead of POP3.  Apparently that is not the solution.
I think the word bug is in order here.
Kind greetings,

Hi Mike

I'm new at this game but just thought I would say how I do this.

I use pop3 but in the properties of the email client, set the account up such that it leaves the mail on the server.

In the case of Outlook and Outlook Express you select to Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items' on the advanced tab.

For Mozilla, on the Server settings, you can select to delete the messgaes when they are moved from the Inbox, which is a bit better.

Cheers

I think the best answer to this question is to use IMAP for all your clients.  Perhaps SME 6 will fix this by replacing the IMAP daemon with something less buggy.

I guess the point was that there is something wrong with the way the messages are being flagged as already being collected.
This was always working OK with version 5.0.  I used Outlook Express setting: remove after 5 days, in order to have a chance to see my webmail even if it was already collected. That never resulted in duplicate emails.
Something has changed in the webmail program since version 5.5.
The question is: what has changed, so that it can be fixed.

No, nothing has changed in the webmail program.  What's changed is the IMAP server.  The version shipped with 5.6 has fixed some bugs, but introduced others.

Can I down grade my IMAP server to fix this error? We have using IMAP feature since then so is very hard for us to come up with this buggy services. I think its better to get back in the stable version which is sme 5.1.2 and apply all system update then wait for sme 6 instead. Sorry for that I didn't blame anyone here. We are all give thanks to the developer of this system because its makes the thing easier and thanks in this forum who really give attention for those newbie....

Thanks a lot guys....

Why it is selected mails cannot be deleted. I have to try to delete selected mails in my webmail but when i purge it there's nothing happen the deleted mails is still there. So there's no choice to downgrade my sme 5.6 to sme 5.1.2 to fix my problem.

Thanks

Funny. That works OK with me.
You did follow the whole procedure?
That is: select, then delete. The selected mails get strikethrough. Then you purge.

I have the same problem using pop3 and outlook express.  If outlook gets the email before I use webmail, I have single copy UNTIL I open the email in webmail, then outlook gets another copy.  I don't know jack about the IMAP server, but new emails are in the 'new' folder...once they are opened, the get moved to the 'current' folder.  Outlook pop3 must grab emails from both folders because if I delete an email immediately after opening it in webmail, outlook never gets a second copy.

I guess there's something wrong with the IMAP server version or somewhat we called bugs.... I keep on looking for the possible solution but no luck.. now I'm waiting for the stability of SME 6.0

Thanks
