I have installed those RPMs,

cvm-0.11-1.i386.rpm
e-smith-cvm-unix-0.0.3-3dc.noarch.rpm
e-smith-imaps-sme5.6-0.0.3-1dc.noarch.rpm
e-smith-pop3s-sme5.6-0.0.3-1dc.noarch.rpm
e-smith-securemail-0.0.3-2dc.noarch.rpm
e-smith-ssmtp-sme5.6-0.0.3-1dc.noarch.rpm

But still can't authenticate.
SME SMTP service keep asking me
for a password, and although I use the same POP3 password it
doesn't work.... what else should I look into?

Look in the server manager under the "secure mail" settings.

Don't know why but It seems that there was a problem with an old version
of CVM-UNIX, so I installed it as
cvm-0.17-1.i386.rpm  restarted and it worked..

I can confirm that it takes about 5mins to get this all running and works like a dream on 5.6. I was biting my nails pre-install since I've had experience with qmail and relaying before...

Well done Damien.

I am running SME 5.6 U4.

I have tried installing the secure mail packages from both
http://www.pagefault.org/code/e-smith.shtml#securemail
and
http://www.lordsfam.net/downloads/production/securemail/
both with the same results.

Everything seems to install properly (using --nodeps for the 3 secure mail service RPMs) and when I check the list of installed RPMs all of them show up.

Then I go to the Server-Manager panel to enable anything but all I get after clicking on the [SAVE} buttom is a blank page, no confirmation. And when I go back to the panel again, everthing still indicates "Feature Unavailable".

I am not able to connect with the mail servers using SSL from either a local or a remote machine.

I have tried rebooting but get the same results. During reboot it shows CVM [Disabled] and SSMTP [Disabled].

Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong?

don't forget to do the
 /sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade

(and there is no reason to reboot because you can manually restart qmail after installing the RPMs).

A previous post on this thread was correct in the cvm needs to be updated. Instead of searching the world over, just use the following link
http://untroubled.org/cvm/rh7/cvm-0.17-1.i386.rpm

Perform a reboot (unless you manually kill and restart the services) and
everything should be good.

Cheers

Thanks Randall,

I did install the latest version of the package from "http://untroubled.org/" including cvm-0.17-1.i386.rpm. When that didn't work I uninstalled all those RPMs and installed the older version from "http://www.lordsfam.net/downloads/production/securemail/". Same results with both both installations.

Thanks for the help! This list is great and has never failed to solve my problems.

I managed to get it working as follows:
Uninstalled all the previous RPMs.
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot
Installed the latest package from http://www.pagefault.org/code/e-smith.shtml#securemail
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot

2 remote workstations (both Win2k-Pro & Outlook 2k) working great.
4 internal workstations (1 Win2k-Pro & Outlook 2002; 3 WinXP-Pro & Outlook 2002) working great.
However:
1 internal workstation (WinXP-Pro & Outlook 2002) refuses to work. When I set up Outlook and hit [Test Setting] it works fine and the test email is received. However when trying to send a regular email it simply refuses to send to either internal or external addresses. All the workstations are configured the same, all OS service packs installed, all Office service packs installed.

I know that the SME box is not the problem. Any Windows Guru that thinks they can help, please contact me. I will greatly appreciate any assistance.

Thanks again
Bob
